christmas and new year ----- a combo bonanza

hola ( hello)
well , I must that say that i am finally getting the hang of  sassy,Spanish .
hope you enjoyed Christmas as much as I did ...............
The spirit this year was rather sombre and quiet , owing to terror attacks .
Of course , our college didn't succumb to  all that and we had wonderful Christmas party and even color codes( red , green , blue , white on different days and even Santa caps!!!!!!!) , All the cakes were gone before the first bites and the best part was when all of us exchanged gifts, I got a wine cup shaped candle . It looks really attractive, grand from far . Since this is the first time I am studying in a Christian institution the whole affair excited me ....
The year is   drawing to  a close ... It's been quite a year with so many up's and down's . The economy and the recession constitutes  the low part of it and also  the
Mumbai attacks   , the kandhamal attacks which questioned our secularism  .

The golden stars are the Nuclear deal with USA getting through . India's first unmanned space mission to the moon , some wonderful  movies like Indiana Jones and the kingdom of crystal skull  , iron man , chronicles of Narnia -prince Caspian , 10,000 BC, quantum of solace , 10,000 BC , 27 dresses etc ..
Overall it's been a fairly good year keeping people on their toes 24*7.

I really wanted to write about the Da Vinci code that i happened to read recently . The book is definitely the master of all thrillers , one that you hard to put down , atleast i couldn't it !!!!! Some parts , were intriguing but bought had  " facts" that i found impossible to believe . I sat back and wondered how the Harry potter series ever outsold this book .

so , that's it this time .....
WISH YOU A WONDERFUL AND A VERY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

JINGLE ALL THE WAY

hi ,
There are quite a lot of things that I can write on this time  . First of all , The most interesting or better the most amusing event had been the fact that an Iraqi journalist threw 2 slippers on the American president , George W Bush , while he was addressing the media . Although the Prez looked calm and said that he was fine it was transparent that he was shaken from his base. The Iraqis consider slippers an insult  so it is evident that the journalist had something against him .But the journalist had the guts and audacity to do such an event .  The sequence of events were indeed hilarious. I personally feel that what Mr Bush did with Iraq was least in the  wrong , he took steps to admonish and finally put an end to the dictator , Saddam Hussein  who did outrageous acts such as putting people in the shredder .

Back in the country ... Today the Taj and the Trident reopened their business post the terror attacks in Mumbai . Last week during the ITA  awards , which is believed to be the biggest TV award show - " Balika Vadhu " bagged the prize for the best serial . I must admit that the serial is different from the other soaps that are viewed. It relates to a world beyond the " saas - bahu " rows or stunts such as the hero reborn again ...... The serial is all about a girl who falls a prey to the social evils in rajasthan and is married at the age of 10 ( child marriage still prevails in remote places of rajasthan ).The girl  has the will to study and cannot because of the social restrictions . It is a must see serial .

Besides Christmas spirit is in the air , and people are resorting to paying rather than partying,  Time limit  for partying has been reduced for security reasons , which is  a wise act by the government .....

So , the only thing to be said is just tuck into those plum cakes and ENJOY !!!!!!

FELIZ NAVIDAD !!!!!!!!!! ( MERRY CHRISTMAS )

feel the beat !!!!!!!

well hello again ,
"pulse .... the beat gets louder " . That was the tagline of our inter collegiate fest that was held on 11th , 12th and 13th Dec . The fest consisted of 72 events including a fashion show . The aura was enthusiastic and everyone was filled with zeal and zest . the events started at 8:00 am and went upto 5'o clock in the evening . The competitions were indeed interesting to watch . The college was packed with students moving up and down . We tucked into practically everything, so was everybody else !!!!!!!! there was a rock band too that as performing , so that made it all the more special for us !!!!!!!!!!!!
otherwise things are good , but i am sure it is not with the world . The financial setback is getting worse and people are happy if the day goes without being shown the doors at their workplaces .
analysts say that it is going a long time to get things "back to normal " ...

so that's it for now
gracious !!!!! ( gracias )

terror and the country

hi ...
Things seem to getting back to normal in the country ,Following the resignation of the Union Home minister, Shivraj Patil and the chief minister of Maharastra . It was sure surprising the anger Indians showed post the attacks . It seemed as if they were ready to shoot any minister they saw . After all, what is wrong in reacting that way when , they are to blame for all these attacks.Intelligence reports say that they were warned beforehand but not only a deaf ear but also a blind eye . What is more shocking in all this political drama is that they made the Finance minister the new Home minister . It sounds so ludicrous and absurd . Aren't there any qualification for a position in the Indian ministry ?? Does the new Home Minister have even the slightest idea on how he has to deal with his new portfolio??? Is such a switch required when the economy too is in crisis ??? it would make more sense if they put Pranab Mukherjee in place of Mr . Patil .
One Thing is for sure this drama would get an" O' Henry twist " every now and then .
Although investigation is on , wonder how long it will take long to crack the case ??

Security has also been tightened following a threat that was received to hijack a plane and the16  anniversary of the Babri masjid demolition  .....
My family lit a candle for the martyrs who laid down their lives ..... I hope that the light is bright enough to eradicate an eerie darkness called " terrorism "

""""" WAR ON MUMBAI """"""""

hi ,
" terrorists have no face but have an agenda , but politicians have a face but no agenda " these words were the words spoken by the civilians of Mumbai as they expressed their raw anger against the politicians who were to be blamed for the attack on the Taj mahal hotel and Oberoi Trident on the 26th November, 2008 . There were several terrorists who entered the Taj and Oberoi and took scores of people hostages . they even shot many in cold blood . It seemed as if they were very familiar with the  the In's and outs of the hotel . The Taj is a enormous structure whose routes are intricate . They seemed to be very young people who had a sound physique and had  vigorous training. The Indian Government blamed  Pakistan for the attacks as one of the militant who was caught was Pakistani .
They planned the operation very well and intelligence sources say that their motives was to make this operation of theirs a nightmare worse than 9/11 . It was said that they had ammunition's to blow up the iconic structure .
I don't know what their motive  was but people have really gone through are horrors . Those who lived to tell the tale recounted traumatic events .
It's so saddening to see the chronicles of losses . Those Brave martyrs who laid their lives down protecting their city will  for sure , never be forgotten . The NSG commandos , The RAF and ATS members Outsmarted those uncivilised and uncultured people truly didn't make India bow down to TERRORISM .
This event , I hope terms like North and South Indian from the dictionary of a common man and will replaced by an Indian . I earnestly hope that Raj Thackery learns his lesson and stops all the drama that he has created .....
Citizens are fed up with politicians and are ready to "lead India " on their own . I must blame them for not responding sources that warned of a possible attack from the sea route ( route used by civilians ) .....
Luckily none of our acquaintances , friends or family members were caught in this mess..
well , I pray this will be "the silver lining in a very dark cloud"....

stay safe .......................

MiSsIoN aDmIsSiOn .......

hi ,
Its been quite long since i last wrote in .
Well ,  my article had got published in the "Hindu " newspaper on the 11Th November 2008 ,
I had submitted it back in the month of may and kept checking the newspaper every day to see if my article had got published .I had lost all hopes by the end of June, when on a fine November 11Th ,i see to my utter astonishment my article published in the paper . I chose to write on the topic of how difficult it is for a student to chose the right college and the perfect combination . Although a lot of changes  were made in what i submitted , i still loved to admire the neat effect of my work . I was completely overwhelmed by the response that poured in from relatives and friends on seeing my article .
So  that event adds to another feather in my cap .

thats it for now .

Saturday, November 8, 2008

hi ,
it's really good to write in again ,,, well certainly the hot topic of the US elections which was won by Barrck Obama of the democratic party .As a matter of fact i had been following the elephantine process closely . I do see that obama's policies are very favourable from the point of view of taxes and health policies .What i also like is the fact that he stress on the need for alternative sources . people in India were overjoyed that Obama was presidential elect ( not sure why!!!!!!) and that's funny because Obama plans to increase taxes on outsourcing .... The census also show that Obama had a neat lead over John Mcain although the latter won almost all of the southern states .... It's maybe because Mcain wanted to continue keeping troops in afghanistan and followBush's policies ,,,,, while people of America wanted a change and Obama made it clear saying " CHANGE IS COMING TO AMERICA "..... He is the first african american to become president of the USA ... While author Irwing wallace built a story with the main character being a black president ...It's a bit hard to digest the fact that ..it's now a reality........l et's wait and watch h0w mr.President is going to deal with the financial crisis and the gruesome markets .

until next time

Discovering more ....

Hi,
it's really been long since i have written.. close to 20 days !!!! well mainly because i was not in Bangalore for 10 days and partially owing to my exams ......
well , I went to Tiruchirapalli ( a place in tamil nadu ) to spend time with my grandmother and my cousins .... but it turned out that i was mostly spotted at the shops present there , carefully choosing the right dresses and accessories , as all the items were so cheap and were availably at incredibly low prices !!!!!! what more could i have asked for !!!!!!!!!!
But i spent about 8 days time in Karaikudi ( well , it would be wrong to call it city maybe a village would suit better )..... i was there to learn typewriting , for my mother felt that it would enable me to type without seeing .... I have got to admit it's given the feel of it but i would surely needs lots of practice to master it .......One thing that really shocked about the village was the shortage of power supply ..... there is no power for close to 7 hours a day + there would be no power for close to 15 min or so whenever there is strong gust of wind or a heavy downpour .... besides that there is shortage of vegetables too ........... Fortunately for me , it was raining all through the week so , it did not get too sultry but it certainly was humid ........... so the sweat didn't escape me!!!!!!!
Another highlight of the trip was that i traveled all alone , by train to tiruchipalli....... i must admit I was terrified in the beginning and remained awake all night ........and fell into a slumber when i reached there ( it takes about 8 hours to go ) ..... but while coming back it certainly was not so bad but i was still anxious !!!!!!!!!!

I learnt how to travel alone and how to manage without mum around.... It certainly taught me to be more independent , responsible , adjustive person !!!!! But i defenetly will not quit being mischievous and stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so ..... that's it for this time
BYE!!!!!!!

for no reason or ryme

well hello there,
Would like to mention that last week's award ceremony went fantastic ... I got a cash award of RS.1001 .... I was on top of the world , cloud nine !!!!!!!! mum was so proud of me she was telling everyone in the family !!!!!!! otherwise .... my """exams """ are on !!!!!! really boring to go through the same thing again and gain ....
as I was scanning through the newspaper yesterday ... Abhinav bindra had featured in advertisment for samsung , standing near a stylish , supercool television ( didn't register the name ) , and he was felicatated for something too, in karnataka which i feel is such a hype and they are giving a rich and famous guy , more power .. which is so ridiculous .. Vijender and sushil kumar don't hit the headlines for anything ...I understand he won gold for us .. so what ... that definely does not mean that you take him on top of your head and dance ... but that is the problem with us isn't it ???it's really sad to see this .........
So until next time ,,,,,
bye

Friday, September 26, 2008

Hi,
I have been looking forward to writing this week's blog ..
I would like to comment on how institutions these days leave students to take up the responsibility of going(traveling - to and fro ) to participate in an event but are overwhelmed with bliss the moment they return after bagging a prize . Well ,that's exactly what happened with me today ... I needed to go to an inter collegiate competition and NOBODY bothered to give me the address of the venue until 21:00 hrs yesterday( even tried asking for the address at least a 100 time before but i presume that they were too busy to share it ) ... well and to add to all to the drama I discovered that the place was somewhere in the extreme south of Bangalore and the traveling time would be at least an hour and a half presuming light traffic in the city .... I was filled with rage at the end of it ... I was on the verge of quitting when my mom suggested taht i take the car and let my brother come by himself from school ....
I went for the debate ( topic : India's performance at the Beijing Olympics was satisfactory ) and the sad part was that I didn't even win anything , besides the saying " participation is more important than winning" , I was personally very upset with the whole thing . This feeling was so strange today ... maybe after all the pains taken to travel and not winning anything let me down . The fact remains that the other girl who came with me took home a trophy !!!!!!!!!!!

OH !!!!! and I almost forgot that tomorrow I have been called by my school to receive an award ( or so i believe ) for securing the highest in "commercial applications" in the X th ICSE board exams ( I got a 96% ) !!!!!!!!!!! I am annoyed that my dad's not here to see it ( neither was he there for my graduation day ) !!!!!!! well , maybe that's why they say " every dark cloud has a silver lining "

so , until next time
BYE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hello,
The only favourite times of the day for me are at the gym and the second writing my blog .
this time of course I would like to mention that that i came across 3people ( well , not all are natural ) who celebrate their birthdays in september , 1 is my eng teacher , and a classmate of mine which i would like to mention specially because she is a physically challenged girl who tries her best to reamin a normal girl , she lost her right arm as it was seriously electrocuted and i think it has been replaced with an artificial one . Well I truly saw what JOY is when i saw the girl's face when the class broke into a surprise birthday song for her and the glee on her face when she got a hug from my teacher . although they say god balances the complicated equation of life , I wonder where the balance is for her . This moment , i am sure , will be a momery of a lietime for her ....
AND.................. the third person to celebrate their special day was none other than the radio station " radio indigo ' which turned 2 today ... I celebrated the day by listening to english songs all day !!!!!!!!! Now that's what i call celebration

So ... hasta luego ,

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Hi ,
well this week has been really plain and normal . The fun was that i finally ate an icecream without guilt as i really worked out 'extra' at the gym. It was such a BLISS eating it !!!..
Another thing was that I finished my spanish begineers course and got my certificate too . It really was thrilling to learn a new language . I intend to remember the language by listening to Spanish podcasts ." Coffee break spanish " is a podcast that is short , simple and gradually introduces a new language . The best thing is that they explain the pronounciations and one picks up the speaking skill of the language really quickly . the site is www.coffeebreakspanish.com
Another thing is that I put up a poster "banning plastic bags" at the supermarket in our complex . I consider it my first step to making people aware that global warming is slowly burning us up . The sad thing is that vey few people realise the gravity of situation. They are too "BUSY " to say no to a plastic bag .

As i write a breaking news is coming in that there have been serial blasts in Delhi . There have been several people injured and about 20 feared dead ( that's what teh news tells us ) . it's such a shame about it happening in the national capital . It underlines the fact of how close terrorism is to our homes . How we need to survive in this cold , unsafe world .
Well, i have got hooked on to Dan Brown's "digital fortess ' . It seems me as an interesting book with a nice, catchy story that keeps me glued to it .
OK , Hasta luego

Hi ,
It's really nice to write in again .
First of all i would like to say that I had a wonderful time on my birthday ,with lots of wishes pouring on from friends and family members . mum, dad and my brother of course presented me with a 8 GB ipod and i don't know if it's a coincidence or something but for some reason my 1 GB ipod has just stopped working . the ipod is simply marvelous and has very interesting features and i particularly liked the " cover flow ".
To add to the bliss we were celebrating ' ganesha chaturti ' which is the day lord ganesha was born , hence in celebration of this people do prayers ( puja ) prepare sweets and the decorate the idol of god and immerse the idol in a lake or a river after 3 days. lord Ganesha is prayed to before starting anything new .

I am really anxious to take up my Spanish exam tomorrow . It really has been a wonderful experience learning the language , though i still have tons to learn

so , asta luega ,( until next time )

extended weekend .. hurrah !!!!

hi ,
well , the note with which I would like to begin blogging is that i am so happy that we had a holiday today !!! thanks to some communal riots in Orrisa where as they say , innocent Christians are being beaten up , so it had been declared that all catholic schools , college would remain closed for the day !!!! so , again an extended , unexpected weekend !!!

otherwise things are pretty much the same... only thing is that i am so happy to turn 16 on Wednesday !! not that i am super excited and scoring days off( as i was used to doing when i was12 or even 14 ) but want to explore why do they say " sweet 16 " !!

well ,Spanish is getting a whole lot tougher and i believe i will have to devote more time to it .....

well , that's it this time ! until next time ,

power packed !!!!!!

Hi ,
It's really good to write in again , It has been a power packed and long week for me . The previous week was very enjoyable for we had an extended weekend thanks to Independence day ! what i did notice was taht most of them resumed worked only on tuedsay after a trip to some part of the world !!!!! Well , the reason why the week was so powerpacked was because we had our Cultural week " IRIS " which was the host to a spectrum of intra collegiate activities including debate , elocution , pot and face painting , singing and dancing ( indian and western ) , creative writing , dumbcharades and so forth . I won the the third place in elocution after elouting on Al gore's speech to urge people to fight global warming. we also had the fresher's party , which i didn't attend though because i felt it wasn't worth it, i beleive that the DJ for the party turned up really late and most of them had one home by then !!!!!!!! i must , admit that the week tapped out a lot of talent . i even , tried to slip out on one of these but was unsuccesful in teh firt attempt as the "lecturers" were checking our ID cards, but fortuntely made it out during teh second attempt !!!!!! I must mention that that was the first time i tried such " fun ' stuff. i tried out a new author - Danielle Steel 's 'granny dan ' which was , i think , a very unrealistic story . But if there was a czar so good and a girl so luky then that person must be the luckiest in the world . Otherwise the book was fair enough and well written .Another surprising thing was that a recent poll conducted showed that kids peffered Enid Blyton's books to JK rowling !! it's surprising to know taht the best seller author has suddenly been replaced.

well , will write in next week again ,
unti then

Thursday, August 14, 2008

hi ,
What i would like to write in the beginning is about the opening at the Beijing Olympics which was splendid , sizzling , spectacular and kept everyone looking in awe and wonder struck !!!!!! the Chinese have defenetly put their heart and soul into it . Compressing 400 year of Chinese culture into 40 minutes is not a child's play. The headlines was of course "abhinav bindra " winning the gold medal in the Olympics . I would say it really is a great achievement considering the power in his eyes were a s high as -4 and his spine injury . India was enveloped with a sense of happiness , satisfaction , pride . I could see that the happiest were of course his parents . his father , ready to gift a hotel costing ( i think ) 40 crores ( approximately )!!!!!!!!!!!!.

another thing I noted was that , spanish , the easiest of all the foreign languages is not as easy as it seems and sounds . it gets a little twisted when it comes to the conjugation . i wonder how difficult French or CHINESE would be !!!!!!!!

Otherwise things or by and large fine!!!!!
until next time ,
adios !!!!!!!!

2 long weeks !!!!!!!!

hi,
I am really sorry that I couldn't write in last week . The reason in very odd !!!!!! my mum ( not to forget my dad ) decided that mum and i go to her place ( Triuchirapalli , Tamilnadu ) to attend the 1st birthday of mum's youngest brother's daughter . Till the previous day mum had no idea , whatsoever, of going , suddenly the next day everything was done , including the tickets . Of course both my grandparents were very happy to see their eldest grand daughter!!!!!! one more point was that we actually went by a bus... so , I learnt that life is more than just traveling in an air conditioned ''ford fiesta!"!!!!! the bus , was really , very comfortable !!!!!!!! fortunately there was no baby traveling that day !!!!!!!!!!!!!

One another development is that i enrolled myself for Spanish classes . it is , indeed , a nice and beautiful language . But you really need to forget English when you enter the class !!!!!!!!
the good thing is that it's just about 2 minutes from my house.. so i finally get to go somewhere without getting stuck in traffic jam of Bangalore!!!!!!

oh !!!! yeah i almost forgot .. saw this movie ' jaane tu ya jaane na ' ........ it was a movie with absolutely no solid theme !!!!!! the acting was reasonable considering that it was imran khan debut film . otherwise there wass nothing to that movie at all !!!!

well , that kind of summarizes my 2 long weeks !!!!!!!!

until next time ,

over the week ............

Hi ,
At the outset I would like to express extreme sorrow on the bombings of Bangalore on the 25th July , 2008 . Although the damage done was little , the amount of turmoil one went through was immense .... fortunately I came home early that day 14:30 hrs, owing to the fact that we didn't have the last hour in college .. the news hadn't spread much the city by then!.. We were expecting semblance of peace over the weekend , but we were in for a rude shock when there were 17 explosions in ahmedabad on the 26th July .... It did the damage it was designed to do . people are now scared to go even to the hospital because a bomb exploded even there.
What do these terrorists want anyway ?scaring people out of their skins , cry and clamor , destruction , bloodshed ?? it is really a terrible thing . maybe the government needs to bring in strict rules and implement stringent laws to prevent India from becoming a epicenter of all terroristic activities.
What is the use of blaming them or expecting anything ?? after all the government and democracy is BY THE POLITICIAN , OF THE POLITICIAN AND FOR THE POLITICIAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

another thing that i am really happy was the fact that the Congress government won the trust vote in the floor of the house and the N- deal will go on !!! maybe at least then we will be able to solve the electricity problem in India !!!!!! An irony in this was the fact that there were a few ministers who just didn't know how to vote during the process .. when millions of Indians press the button when the vote during the elections it is both funny and shameful to learn about these "ministers" !!!!!!!!

Anyway the alumni that was proposed to take place on the 26th went on perfectly fine yesterday . I exected the population to be scarce due to these explosions , but there were quite a number of students who turned up !!!! the programs were less attractive than what had been arranged last year....but atleast we all got a reason to meet !!!!!!!! we really had a splendid time !!!!! meeting them really got back old memories.........

I think that is enough to summarize the week !!!!!!!!!!!!!
until next time ....

hi ,
I have finally added the widgets in my blog .. they are really fascinating and I owe it to my bro , shravan .. because he really did most of the work there( he is a tech saavy person )!!!!
otherwise..things are practically normal .. we ofcourse had the investiture ceremony of our pu college on fri ( 18th jul) .. it was wonderful to have the judge of the bangalore high court to be our guest of honour .. I was called on stage to receive a nice card from the principal because i am the class representative ( though it is tiny compared to the sashe that the union members wore but still something is better than nothing !!!!!!!!!!!! )
i am really looking forward to the reunion that we have on the 26th july that i have already chosen my dresses and all the other accesories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am also preparig for the 1st compulsry test we have onthe 28th ( trust me it is practically nothing compared to the ICSE school syllabus !!!!!! ) ..
i have also finished reading John grisham's 'the broker " .. it is a captivaing story and kept me glued to the book ... one really has a page turning urge and the style of writing is simply undescribeable

ok , that's it from me this time .....

so... much more to say !!!

hi !!!
This week had a series of events which kept me engaged through out !!
for example we had our college " food fest " on the 10th July , 2008. well the fest is basically an idea where the investment made on the food is really little and selling it at a little higher rate to earn a profit !! well , that afternoon the college was filled with the delicious smell of all kinds of food items .. from tasty pani puri's , sandwiches to cakes and spring rolls ... basically we'd have any item you name .. everyone had sold out their items at the end ,and made a reasonable profit too !!!!! I had to coordinate with everybody with this entire food fest and umph !!!!! you could call it a day !!!!!!!!i was so tired that day to be more precise that entire week ... our dress code was catchy to !! we had to wear ties that day .. we looked like real waitresses !!!!!!! hahahah

well , another event that happened was that someone stole my pencil box in the bus !!!! well , it may be a really insignificant object , but i had a lot of sentiments attached to it ....( i used that box for my 10th board exam and had it when i won my scholarship to go to USA !! ) .. so obviously i kind of felt bad !!! the bus was certainly crowded and i had no place to sit , so obviously i was standing and in that short duration of 15 min someone flicked it !!!!!! hah ,,,, CURSE THEM ??????/ !!!!!!!!!
that event has definetly made me more vigilant and i try to be really alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am waiting for my dad to be back from shanghai on wed !!!! am waiting to see the photograph he took in that bullet train which hit 431 km / hr !!!!!!

ok ......
shall speak more the next time ,
until then !!!!!!!
